GENERAL TOURNEY RULES

  1. Except where stated here, the rules of the W.H.C.T. and Hockey Canada shall apply.
  2. Body checking and slapshots are not allowed and are subject to a two (2) minute minor penalty. Two-line passes ARE allowed.
  3. All players must wear neck protectors, CSA approved helmets, and full face mask or visor.
  4. In the event of sweater conflicts, the team listed as the home team on the schedule will be obliged to change their sweaters. White pinnies will be supplied if needed.
  5. Drugs and alcohol are prohibited in the dressing rooms and arena facilities. For everyone's protection, any player found playing while under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be removed from the game.

GAME TIMES

  1. Teams must register one 45 minutes to one hour before game time and be in their dressing rooms ready to play one half (1/2) hour prior to game time.
  2. Games must start on time.  Teams must have six (6) players on the ice ready to play within two (2) minutes of the referee's call or the game will be forfeited.  The other team on the ice will be awarded two (2) points and the score will be recorded as 1-0.

TOURNAMENT ELIGIBILITY

  1. Maximum team players is seventeen (17), including the goaltender.
  2. A player can only play on the team she is registered with - any teams allowing an unregistered player to participate will automatically forfeit the tournament.
  3. Each player must play in at least two (2) of the three (3) games in the Round Robin Series in order to be eligible for the Playoff Round and Championship Game.

GOALTENDERS

  1. Goalies - injured goalies must be replaced by a player from their own team or by another goalie registered in the tournament.
  2. If a goalie has not arrived by the start of their game, a team has two options:
    • if the goalie is expected to show for the game, a team can play with six (6) skaters until the goalie arrives.
    • if the goalie is not expected to show, you may have a player from your own team play the goalie position, but she must then play the entire game as goaltender.

PENALTIES

  1. Minor penalties - are two (2) minutes in length.  Should a player receive any three (3) minor penalties in one game, it will result in suspension of that player for the remainder of the game.
  2. Major penalties - are five (5) minutes in length.  Any player incurring a major penalty shall be assessed a Game Misconduct penalty; shall be ordered to the dressing room for the remainder of the game, and shall be reported to the Collective for further action. Another player of her team on the ice at the time of the infraction must serve the major penalty. Additional suspensions may be imposed where it is deemed warranted by the W.H.C.T. Collective/Executive Members & Referees.
  3. Verbal abuse of an official by a player or coach WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and is a minimum one game suspension.  Discretion to allot further suspensions rests with the W.H.C.T. Collective.

AWARDS & POINT SCHEMES

  1. For each game there will be an award given to the most sportsmanlike player of each team for that particular game.  This player will be chosen by the coach and/or players of the opposing team.
  2. In the Round Robin games, two (2) points will be awarded to the winning team for a WIN; one (1) point will be awarded to each team for a TIE; zero (0) points will be awarded to the losing team for a LOSS.
  3. The top eight teams will advance to the Championship Playoff Round and the next best four teams will advance to the Consolation Playoff Round, based on who has the most points overall, regardless of pools.  In the event of a tie, refer to the tie-breaking set of rules which are available at each of the arenas.
  4. The Playoff Round and Championship Game rules are also posted at the arenas.
